Mr. Thilak Karunaratne assumed duties as the Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) today. After completion of his secondary education at Ananda College, Colombo, he entered the University of Ceylon and graduated with a BSc. in Chemistry. He is also a Chartered Chemist. He was a Member of Parliament for 12 years up to year 2000 when he resigned on his own to rejoin the private sector. Previously, Mr. Karunaratne also served as the Chairman of the SEC from December 2011 to August 2012.
