Application Guidelines
Applications should be submitted in English. Two sets of all required material must be submitted by the deadline (31 St May 2007). Electronic submissions and incomplete applications will not be accepted.
Final reports should be of a quality and in a format suitable for publications in a respected journal and should contain recommendations which are practical and could be implemented. The research proposal must address the issues outlined below:
Cover page
The first page of the research proposal should contain the title of the project along with the name of the applicant/s their institutional affiliation and contact details.
Abstract
The abstract should be limited to one page, contain 200-300 words and outline the proposed research, including objectives, methodology proposed, hypotheses to be evaluated and significance of the research. Applicants must present a clear and well thought out model that identifies the selected variables and specify the analysis to be done.
Literature Survey
The proposal must analyze previous work on the proposed topic and clearly indicate the manner in which the research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge.
Bibliography
Include all materials used and reviewed by the researcher, such as books, magazines, periodicals, journals, thesis or dissertation (published or unpublished).Monographs, web page or internet, etc.
Research capacity and experience
Briefly describe the capacity and experience of the researcher/s and past track record in research.
Curriculum Vitae
Research proposals should be accompanied by the C.V. of researcher/s.
Selection Criteria
Proposals will be reviewed for:
- clear objectives and focus
- relevance to policy development
- sound research design and analytical methods
- recommendations
- practical & implementable
Review Process
- each proposal will be rigorously assessed by a research committee at SEC and the most promising entries will be short listed
- a panel of University Lecturers and Industry Experts will be appointed as Supervisors for these projects
- completed research assignments will be subjected to desk evaluations by the panel
- the assignments will be reviewed by a panel and the best projects selected for awards
