NOTICE

DRAFT TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR REGISTRATION/RENEWAL OF REGISTRATION OF UNDERWRITERS,MARGIN PROVIDERS, CREDIT RATING AGENCIES,
INVESTMENT MANAGERS AND CLEARING HOUSES

This notice is issued further to the previous press notice issued by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of Sri Lanka on 7, September 2003 (which appeared in the Sunday Leader and the Sunday Observer) requesting persons who are carrying on or who intend to carry on the business of an underwriter, a margin provider, a credit rating agency, an investment manager or a clearing house to register with the SEC in terms of Section 19A of the SEC Act, No. 36 of 1987 amended by Act, No.26 of 1991 and Act, No. 18 of 2003.

The SEC has prepared the terms and conditions for registration/renewal of registration of underwriters, margin providers, credit rating agencies, investment managers and clearing houses in consultation with a cross section of the stakeholders.

The SEC invites the public wishing to make representations on the said terms and conditions to forward same in writing to the Secretariat of the SEC on or before 5th November 2003.

The SEC will proceed to finalise the said terms and conditions after consideration of such views.
